James Michael (Jim) Scarmozzino was born in Garden City, New York. He graduated from Holy Trinity Diocesan High School and attended the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He earned his juris doctorate at the University of Dayton School of Law. While in law school, Jim earned a seat on the National Moot Court Team and competed nationally. Jim is licensed to practice law in both Florida and New York. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York and the United Stated District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

As a Prosecutor for the District Attorney in Suffolk County, New York, Mr. Scarmozzino tried over 50 misdemeanor and felony criminal trials between 1984 and 1993. He also tried over 10 murder cases as a Prosecutor in the Homicide Bureau. Upon leaving the District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Scarmozzino was employed at the law firm of Weg & Myers, P.C., in Manhattan, New York, as a civil trial attorney.

Jim is an avid runner and has successfully completed three marathons, including the New York City Marathon. He also devotes his time to children’s organizations, including Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Southwest Florida where he is a Past President.

Today, Mr. Scarmozzino concentrates on personal injury and criminal law litigation. His memberships include: The Association of Trial Lawyers of America, The Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, Southwest Florida Trial Lawyers Association, American Board of Trial Advocates, Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and The Lee County Bar Association. Jim is Past President of FLABOTA, a prestigious trial lawyers organization.
